PTFE Material Properties

Polytetrafluoroethylene has soft mechanical properties, very low surface energy, density: 2.1-2.3 g/cm³. 

●High/low temperature resistance: The working temperature reaches -196~250℃ and the melting point is about     325°C. Good mechanical toughness; 5% elongation can be maintained even if the temperature drops to -196°C.  

●Corrosion resistance: It can withstand the action of all strong acids (including fluorantimony acid and aqua regia), strong alkalis, strong oxidizers, reducing agents, and various organic solvents except molten alkali metals, fluorinated media, and sodium hydroxide above 300 °C. 

●Climate resistant: Best aging life in plastics, suitable for environmental protection industry, meteorological related industries.

●Self-lubrication: It has the smallest coefficient of friction among plastics, coefficient of friction≦0.1, and is the most ideal oil-free lubricating material, without adding lubricant, which can reduce process pollution.  

●Anti-stickiness: No known solid material can adhere to the surface of PTFE, which is a solid material with minimal surface energy.  

●Non-toxic: It is physiologically inert and has no adverse effects on long-term implantation as an artificial vessel or organ.  

●High Insulation: Resistant to 1500 volts high voltage, not affected by environment and frequency, resistivity up to 1018 ohm-cm, low dielectric loss, high breakdown voltage.  

●Non-combustibility: The oxygen limitation index is below 90.  

●Anti-oxidation: Resistant to corrosion by strong oxidizing agents.  

●Acid-alkaline: It is neutral.  

●Atmospheric aging resistance: Resistance to irradiation and low permeability: surface and properties remain unchanged after long-term exposure to the atmosphere.
